White House straddles the Sumner-Robertson county line off exit 108 (wait, no — exit 108 is Greenbrier's; White House is exit 112, further north on I-65). It's a growing bedroom community with more chain-restaurant options than any other town in the area and a walkable inn cluster right off the interstate. The downtown, such as it is, is on TN-76 and worth a fifteen-minute drive-through but not a destination stop.
This is where you stay if you want maximum interstate access, chain reliability, and a room in the $85-$120 range with breakfast included. It's not scenic and it's not quaint, but for families driving through, business travelers, and anyone who wants a Cracker Barrel next door, it's exactly the right place. White House has grown fast over the past decade as Nashville's exurbs push north up I-65, and it shows in the newer subdivisions east of the interstate and the steady construction along TN-76. Weekday mornings bring a real commuter crunch onto the southbound ramp between 6:45 and 8am; plan around it if you're driving into Nashville for a meeting. But if you're staying at the hotels off exit 108, you can walk between the hotels, the two restaurants, and the gas station without a car in fifteen minutes total. Sidewalks are decent. Cross TN-76 at the light, not mid-block — the traffic moves faster than it looks. Start at the Hampton Inn White House, pass the Comfort Inn White House and Quality Inn White House, cross at the light, and finish at the gas station canopy — the whole loop covers the entire walkable footprint of White House.
Exit 108 off I-65 is the reason to be here. From Nashville International drive northeast via Briley Parkway to I-65 north, 30-35 minutes total. Downtown Nashville is 25 minutes south off-peak, 45 minutes in rush hour. No public transit. Ride-share is available but pricey after 9pm. Gas is cheaper here than in Nashville proper by roughly a quarter a gallon. A rental car is essentially required — there is no train station and no regional bus route serving White House directly. Within the hotel cluster itself, everything is within a five-to-ten-minute walk, so once you have checked in you can leave the car parked until the next drive. Parking at every hotel and restaurant here is free and plentiful, unlike downtown Nashville.
