The University of Texas at San Antonio is a public university in San Antonio, the city whose culture blends Spanish, Mexican and American influences in its food, architecture and festivals such as Fiesta San Antonio. The university draws students and their families, faculty, visiting academics and sports crowds, and it gives visitors a reason to stay in the northwest of the city rather than downtown. San Antonio itself keeps visitors busy beyond campus: the River Walk, or Paseo del Rio, is a network of walkways along the San Antonio River, one story below the city streets, lined with restaurants, shops and hotels. The city's museums, including the San Antonio Museum of Art, the McNay Art Museum and the Witte Museum, show the same mix of cultures. Mild weather, historic sites and a calendar of annual events such as the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and the Alamo Bowl bring millions of visitors to San Antonio each year, and many of them combine a campus visit with time in the rest of the city.
